Description

Characteristics:

• Annual crop.
• Grazing vetch is a fine stemmed annual legume with a creeping/runner growth habit.
• Produces very good hay and does not cause bloat.
• Combines well with cereal crops to make good quality hay and silage.

• Pure: 20-35kg/ha
• Mixture: 15-25kg/ha

Rainfall (mm/year):

• 350mm+ or irrigation

Suited Regions: 

• Western Cape, Southern Cape, Eastern Cape, Eastern Free State, North-West Province, Mpumalanga, KZN

Soil:

• Widely adapted to most soils but does well on loam and heavy clays with a neutral to high pH. Will not do well on waterlogged soils.

Planting time:

• March to May
