Description

Characteristics:

• Annual crop.
• Winter type; needs a long cold spell to go to seed. Can be planted much earlier in the year than Spring types.
• Prostrate growth habit; suitable for grazing.
• Early plantings are ready for grazing within 60 days. Rotational graze for best results.
• Grain is of great value to ruminants and has a crude protein of 10-13%.
• Stooling Rye can be used for grazing, hay, silage, and grain feed.
• Often used as nurse crop with early established ryegrass to increase TDM content.
• Drought tolerant.
• Offers greater flexibility with fodder flow.
